Description:
In a historic departure from 165 years of American tradition, the U.S. Treasury announced Thursday that President Donald Trump’s signature will appear on paper currency starting this summer. This marks the first time a sitting president’s signature has been featured on Federal Reserve notes. The redesign, timed for the 250th anniversary of American independence (Semiquincentennial), will replace the signature of the U.S. Treasurer with that of the President, ending an unbroken line of Treasurers appearing on currency since 1861.
