U.S. President Donald Trump held a press conference at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on Friday, where he unveiled not only a brand-new gargantuan aircraft hangar, but the newest Air Force One.
The latest presidential jet is a $400 million luxury Boeing 747-8 that Trump accepted as a gift from Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani last year.
The Qatari jet will serve as a bridge aircraft while Boeing works to deliver two 747-8s under a nearly $4 billion fixed-price contract signed in 2018. Currently four years behind, Boeing is expected to deliver on that contract in mid-2028.
“There will never be one like this… This is considered the world’s most luxurious plane when it was built. It was built at a level that will probably never be seen again,” Trump said of his new ride before offering reporters a “quick tour” of it.
