Description:
Donald Trump has fought back after Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni accused him of making up a story that she "begged" him for a picture at the G7 summit in France.
Ms Meloni said she was astonished when she heard the US President's comments to an Italian TV channel.
Mr Trump has responded on Truth Social, claiming: "Italian Prime Minister Giorgia [sic] Meloni asked, over and over, for a picture with me during the G-7 meeting in France".
However, not one to let things lie, the Italian PM responded today, saying Trump's "constant, unprovoked attacks" were "senseless".
"As for my popularity, being your friend has certainly not helped it, nor does it depend on my relationship with you," said Meloni.
"My popularity is none of your concern. I suggest you focus on yours," she added.
Vanessa Feltz is joined by Peter Conradi, Europe Editor of The Sunday Times and Gina Abercrombie-Winstanley, US Diplomat & Distinguished Fellow at the Atlantic Council to discuss.
