Canadian PM Mark Carney was caught on 'hot mic' at the G7 working lunch apparently telling Donald Trump about his 'cap' on Chinese EVs - before appearing to get annoyed at the US leader on Tuesday.
Footage hows him saying it would be "less than three per cent of our market, 49,000 cars" and "capped."
"I thought you’d actually like it!" Carney said walking away, as Trump did add: "I liked it."
Canada imposed a 100 per cent tariff on Chinese EVs, but recently agreed to allow a small number, up to 49,000 in per year, in at 6.1 per cent. The US also has a 100 per cent tariff on Chinese EVs to protect its own market.
